Ban on Janmat television channel lifted

Chandigarh: The Centre has decided to lift the ban imposed on Janmat Television, a private TV channel recently in the news for carrying out a fake sting operation against a school teacher.

A one-month ban had been imposed on the transmission and retransmission of the TV channel’s programmes due to its “admittedly doctored sting operation” on Uma Khurana, a teacher in Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Delhi, an official spokesman said.

The sting operation was “defamatory, deliberate, false,” he said. — PTI
