HYDERABAD: It was a memorable day for Indian boxers as P. Narjit Singh (54 kg), D. Bhagyarajan (69 kg), Mohinder Thapa (81 kg), H.K. Beliwal (51 kg) and G. Satyaraju (64 kg) were assured of medals in their respective categories as they made it to the semifinals of the fourth CISM Military World Games at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium here on Thursday. The performance of D. Bhagyarajan was arguably the highlight of the day for this dimunitive boxer was up against the tall and athletic German Rinat Karimov but still came up with a remarkable 23-14 win. A feat which was truly symbolic of the way the Indians continued to excel in the ring. The fleet-footed Indian, who was initially taken aback by the height and reach of the opponent, got into the groove when it mattered most. For the 23-year-old Harkishan Beliwal, it was an equally memorable evening as he out-punched Bak Jong Chol of DPR Korea 11-5 in the 51 kg category.
