A different touch: The display of dolls put up by the BMTC employees at the Kempe Gowda Bus Station in Bangalore.

BANGALORE: There were toys depicting the evolution of the transportation sector — from a bullock cart to swanky cars and different models of buses at this doll exhibition on the occasion of Navratri.

Considering the theme, it was fitting that it was organised by those involved with the transport sector at the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) terminal of the Kempe Gowda Bus Station in Majestic.

Family members of BMTC employees converted the mini auditorium on the first floor of the terminal into an exhibition space. Organised by BMTC Kala Samskrutika Kuteera, the exhibition witnessed participation by a large number of women. Balakrishna, convener of the kuteera, said the event was possible due to the patronage by the management of the corporation. Apart from the usual toys and dolls the display also featured a mini forest, thanks to the Forest Department. This was to create awareness about wildlife, especially among children. The occasion also offered an opportunity to the children of the BMTC employees to exhibit their talents through various cultural programmes.

The exhibition is on till Friday.
