Jewellery stolen from house

A thief posing as a carpenter stole 21 sovereigns of gold from a house in Nungambakkam on Thursday.

On seeing a man knocking at her neighbour’s door repeatedly, Bharathy, a resident of Thirumoorthy Nagar, Nungambakkam, came out and enquired with the man. The man claimed to be her neighbour’s carpenter.

Bharathy, who also wanted to get a few carpentry work done at her house, asked him to come in.

The man went around the house, under the pretext of examining the work to be done, and took note of valuables in the house. After he left the place, the woman found about 21 sovereigns of gold jewellery missing.
