“The Bluelines are overloaded and don’t stop at the designated stops” NEW DELHI: Former Union Minister Vijay Goel on Thursday travelled in a Blueline bus again on route 216 from Shakti Nagar Chowk to Super Bazar to assess any improvement in the bus service. Mr. Goel said he would soon submit to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Lieutenant-Governor Tejendra Khanna a report on the Blueline and the DTC bus problem based on his “personal experience”. “Buses are not available regularly and most of them are overloaded. There is no fire extinguisher or first-aid box and several drivers do not possess a driving license as it has been seized by the police,” he said. “In addition, people complain that their pockets are picked and the drivers do not stop the buses at the designated stops,” he added. Mr. Goel observed that on the one hand the Government was promising a phasing-out of the Blueline fleet while on the other they were called back to the roads under the threat of the Essential Services Maintenance Act. This clearly indicated that the Government had no clear substitute for these killer buses.
