BANGALORE: Animal sacrifice during ‘Ayudha Puja’ on Saturday as part of Dasara festivities has been banned under the Karnataka Prevention of Animal and Bird Sacrifice Act 1959. A communiqué sent out by the Department of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments to the district administration across the city said that animal sacrifices in public places and temples should be prevented. A similar communication has also been sent to the Police Department, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and South Western Railway. The Akhila Karnataka Prani Daya Sangha has also appealed to public not to sacrifice animals during Ayudha Puja.
