Agro technology centre to start operations soon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An agro-technology centre will start operations at the head office buildings of the city corporation on Friday. The centre will feature an exhibition showcasing the latest developments in mechanisation of the agricultural sector in the state, a showroom for marketing such technology and a consultancy centre.

The technology centre will be inaugurated on Friday by the Minister for Agriculture, Mullakkara Ratnakaran.

The centre will offer farmers the chance to see first hand the functioning of agricultural machinery and to get exposure to the use of agricultural machinery and agricultural practices across the world with the aid of the Internet. The centre will also provide tips on optimising the use of land for agricultural purposes, setting up of green houses, and for selecting high quality seeds and fertilisers. The centre will act as a channel for the distribution of equipment to be used for waste disposal.
