Land acquisition to be speeded up

Vallarpadam container terminal project
|
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government will take urgent steps to complete land acquisition for the Vallarpadam International Container Terminal Project in Kochi.
Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan gave this assurance to Cochin Port Trust Chairman M. Ramachandran at a meeting here on Thursday.
Some more land remained to be acquired for establishing rail connectivity for the project. Revenue Minister K. P. Rajendran participated in the discussions.
Mr. Rajendran is expected to reach Kochi on Friday to sort out the problems related to acquisition of land for the road and rail link for the proposed terminal.
