Residents block road

Residents of Jayalakshmi Nagar and Rajmatha Nagar and Communist Party of India activists on Thursday staging a road blockade on Uthukuli Road in Tirupur urging the Municipality to construct storm water drains.

TIRUPUR: Residents of Jayalakshmi Nagar, Rajmatha Nagar and Golden Nagar and surroundings and activists of the Communist Party of India on Thursday blocked the the busy Uthukuli Road urging the municipality to construct drainages and storm water drains.

The protestors complained of mosquito menace in their area due to stagnation of wastewater. They demanded the authorities to construct storm water drains on either side of main road, which leads to Surya Colony from Pappanaickenpalayam.

They also wanted the road to be given a black top. The residents sought basic amenities for A.S. Pandit Colony. They wanted the garbage heaps be removed immediately.
