THANJAVUR: Tata Gold Plus has set a sales target of Rs.2,100 crore all over the country for 2007-2008, according to C. Panneerselvam, head, Merchandising and designs, Titan Industries Ltd, Jewellery division.
Last year, the sales target was Rs.1,300 crore, he told presspersons here on Thursday.
Tamil Nadu accounted for 12 Tata Gold plus showrooms. “Our plan is to open 85 showrooms throughout India in three years,” he said.
Having realised that 66 per cent of the gold jewellery sale is in rural areas, Tatas have entered into the gold industry with a view to providing quality gold at affordable price. Tatas have a jewellery manufacturing unit at Hosur. About 8,000 designs are available, he said.
