Vijaya Bank in semifinals

MUMBAI: Vijaya Bank (Bangalore) overpowered Maharashtra 89-44 to qualify for the semifinals from men’s Group ‘A’ at the 24th United Phosphorous all-India Ramu memorial basketball tournament, organised by the Indian Gymkhana.

Southern Railway started off with a 73-29 win over KSEB in Group A in the women’s category.

The results:

Women: Group ‘A’: Southern Rly 73 (Geethu Anna Jose 23, Hareendran 9, S. Kokila 9) bt KSEB 29 (P. Lejitha 12, Sonia Joseph 7). Group ‘B’: SEC Rly 80 (M. Pushpa 18, Bharti 15, Anju L. 11) bt South Central Rly 50 (Sofi 21, Kavaljeet Kaur 12).
