Mumbai: Australian captain Ricky Ponting and India’s Anil Kumble were declared the Ceat Cricket Rating’s Lifetime Achievement Award winners at a glittering function at the Police Gymkhana ground here on Thursday.

Sunil Gavaskar, who is associated with the scheme said: “This is the first rating in the world that has recognised and rewarded international cricketers for their outstanding performances at the end of the yearThe ratings are pretty much accurate as you can see some of the modern greats like Brain Lara, Muralitharan, Ponting winning the CEAT International Cricketer of the Year in the past.”

Mr. Harsh Goenka, Chairman, RPG Group said: “The CCR International Award function is a reiteration of the close association CEAT has with cricket and our endeavour to recognise individual brilliance.” In another pioneering move, CEAT also introduced ratings for under-19 and Twenty20 ratings in order to catch and promote young talent from across the country, especially from small towns.
