Crackdown on plastic ban breakers

ALAPPUZHA: With the Alappuzha municipality steaming ahead with its ban on use of plastic, crackdowns are being planned on business enterprises, offices, and other commercial houses that are yet to dump plastic use. In a statement here on Friday, municipal chairman P.P. Chittaranjan said there were a few establishments which were still using banned plastic material and that raids would be conducted on these firms soon.

Appealing to political parties, social organisations and trade enterprises to cooperate with the municipality in stopping the use of plastic kits, flex boards, and plastic banners/posters, Mr. Chittaranjan said the municipality would not spare anyone violating the law in this regard.
