ALAPPUZHA: A 17-year-old girl died allegedly after jumping in front a train along with her lover near Ambalappuzha early this morning. The boy, 20-year-old Unni, escaped with a few injuries and is recuperating at the Alappuzha General Hospital. According to the Ambalappuzha police, the lovers attempted suicide by jumping in front of a train after their families opposed the relationship. Both were employees of a private prawn processing factory in Kochi. The boy’s mother is said to have attempted suicide on hearing the news. She is also being treated at the Alappuzha General Hospital.
