MAHABUBNAGAR: In a major break through, the sleuths of prohibition and excise enforcement have seized large quantity of rectified spirit and illicit liquor being transported from Omergaon town in Maharashtra to Chennai (Tamil Nadu) Thursday.
The officials have also arrested five persons in this connection and registered cases.
The assistant commissioner, Prohibiton and Excise enforcement Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar division, A.V. Narasimha Rao on Friday told The Hindu that 36,750 litres of rectified spirit and 350 cartons of illicit liquor being transported in four lorries and a DCM van were seized.
He said that the value of the seized stock including vehicles may be over Rs.58 lakh.
