Road congress from November 16

JAIPUR: The national convention of the Indian Road Congress will be held here from November 16 to 19 for the fifth time in Rajasthan. A large number of experts and engineers from all over the country are expected to attend the four-day event.

State Public Works Department Minister Rajendra Rathore said here on Friday that the 68th national convention would deliberate on modern technology for road and bridge construction, structure equipment, research to improve quality of roads and measures for road safety.

Mr. Rathore said Jaipur had earlier hosted IRC’s national conventions in 1946, 1964, 1980 and 1992. The IRC was established in 1934, when its first convention was held in Delhi. A technical exhibition covering all aspects of road construction technology will be organised at the venue, Harishchandra Mathur State Institute of Public Administration. Mr. Rathore said 13 committees comprising senior officials of the department had been appointed to look after various arrangements.
