Bangalore: U.T. Khader, Congress MLA for Ullal, on Thursday urged Governor Rameshwar Thakur that he give directions for taking up urgent works in his constituency which was facing problems because of sea erosion. In a memorandum to Mr. Thakur, Mr. Khader said that the funds promised by the previous government for providing relief to those who lost their homes had not been released. He demanded that at least Rs. 45 crore be sanctioned, and one-third of it should be immediately released. All the roads in the constituency had been damaged during the rain and road users were facing hardships. The works should be taken up immediately along with release of Rs. 2 crore for the purpose. An equal amount of money should be released to the zilla panchayat for repairing roads in its jurisdiction, he said. Mr. Khader said that a permanent scheme should be formulated to provide clean drinking water to the people and Rs.1 crore be sanctioned for meeting the urgent needs. He wanted release of Rs. 5 crore for developing Mangalore University. CasesAll false cases foisted on the people for their alleged involvement in communal clashes should be withdrawn, he said.
