dated October 20, 1957: World Bank

The International Bank for Reconstruction and Development has appointed Dr. A. Basch, one of their senior officers and an expert on economic problems facing Asian countries, particularly India, as their Resident Representative at New Delhi. He will remain in close contact with the Government of India in regard to the development plans and projects. Dr. Basch’s appointment will enable the World Bank and the Government of India to work in closer cooperation, which has become necessary in view of the growing volume of the World Bank’s business in India, arising out of the past as well as pending loan operations.
