Rupee recovers

MUMBAI: The rupee on Friday appreciated by four paise to close at 39.73/74 against the U.S. currency, despite bearish equity market amid capital outflows.

In fairly active trade at the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee resumed higher at 39.71/73 from the overnight close of 39.77/78. It later gyrated in a range of 39.67 and 39.86 before concluding the day at 39.73/74.

Despite a steep fall in the benchmark Sensex, the rupee got support from dollar selling. — PTI
