Gowtham spins RKS to victory

Coimbatore: An effective spell by off-spinner C. Gowtham (five for 20) enabled RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS score an eight-wicket win over St. Joseph’s (Cuddalore) in the TNCA-Boost Cup under-17 inter-school inter-zone cricket tournament at the Forest College grounds here on Thursday.

After restricting St. Joseph’s to 94 in 38.5 overs, RKS scored the required runs in 17.5 overs losing two wickets.

The scores:

St. Joseph’s (Cuddalore) 94 in 38.5 overs (C. Gowtham five for 20) lost to RKS Kalvi Nilayam HSS 96 for two in 17.5 overs.

Vinu, Pradeep sparkle

At Udhagamandalam, an unbeaten 113 by V. Vinu and a five-wicket haul by medium-pacer R. Pradeep (five for 18) saw St. Joseph’s BHSS (Ooty) fashion a 180-run win over Hebron School in the NDCA under-19 inter-school cricket tournament for the F.K. Irani Rolling Trophy at the Lawrence grounds on Thursday.

In the under-17 tournament for the Azhar Hassan Memorial Rolling Trophy at the LMS grounds, Lawrence defeated Green Valley by 185 runs.

The scores:

U-19: St. Joseph’s (Ooty) 221 for eight in 35 overs (V. Vinu 113 not out) bt Hebron 180 (Joel George 53, R. Pradeep five for 18).

U-17: Lawrence 329 for six in 40 overs (G. Ashuthosh 80, U. Dev 59 not out, Rohan Bhari 45 not out, Amrit Garg 42) bt Green Valley 144 (Rohan Bhari four for 42).
