Make use of technology to make value-added products: Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran has said farmers’ income can be supplemented if technology is used to make value-added products from agricultural produce.
The Minister, who was inaugurating the agro-technology showroom set up as part of the diversification of the activities of the Kerala Ago Industries Corporation (KAIC) here on Friday, said multinationals, at present were making value-added items making use of our raw materials and marketing them in our own country.
He asked the KAIC to take up the development of technology and machinery needed to make value added products as a challenge.
Agro industries corporation chairman Ambalathara Sreedharan Nair presided over the function.
