A colourful procession will be taken out There will be ‘Dandiya’, ‘Garbha’, and Kathakali BANGALORE: So you cannot take your children to Mysore to watch the Dasara procession on Vijayadashami day? Bal Bhavan is trying to recreate the Dasara procession for children here in the city on Sunday. For the first time, the Bal Bhavan plans to organise a mini Dasara procession and give a feel of the Mysore spectacle. “Camels, horses and children in colourful attire will move in a procession. We are trying to include an elephant too,” said Shalini Rajineesh, Chairman of Bal Bhavan Society. The procession will start from Bhavan’s main gate, she said. Talking to reporters on Friday, Ms. Rajneesh said the unique procession was the valedictory of the special camp conducted on the occasion of Dasara. The other programmes on Sunday include children’s presentation of “Dandiya,” “Garbha,” and Kathakali, which have been taught in the special camp. Children will burn a 10-foot effigy symbolising social evils such as atrocities on children, children trafficking, child labour and child marriage “to mark their victory over the evils,” Ms. Rajaneesh said. Bhavan will present mementos and certificates to the participants. Bal Bhavan has opened ‘Huttuhabbada kuteera,’ a place earmarked for celebrating birthdays of children.
