Animal sacrifice banned

Animal sacrifice for Dasara has been banned in the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation Limits. Violators would be prosecuted under the AP Animals and Birds Sacrifice Prohibition Act, 1950, according to City Veterinary Officer N. Karunakara Rao.

The GVMC has formed three patrolling squads with the assistance of the police, Animal Husbandry and other departments to move around in the city to prevent animal and bird sacrifice. Dr. Karunaka Rao appealed to the public to cooperate with the municipal officials in the implementation of the Act.
