Cellphone showroom burgled crime notes

BANGALORE: Thieves broke open the rolling shutters of a mobile phone showroom in Rajajinagar police station limits on Thursday night and looted 38 mobile phones worth Rs. 2 lakh.

The police said the theft took place at the shop situated in Rajajinagar Cooperative Society building near Bashyam Circle. The incident came to light when the employees came to work around 10 a.m. on Friday. On a complaint by the manger of the showroom, Girish Deshanur, the Rajajinagar police have registered a case.

Killed

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from the Majestic area on Thursday night. The police said that around 9.30 a p.m. a vehicle knocked down Shivalingaiah (35), a LIC agent from Mandya, near Chikkalalbagh. The Upparpet traffic police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the vehicle.

Murdered

An unidentified man aged around 35 was found murdered in a vacant land on Outer Ring Road, off PES Institute of Technology, in Byatarayanapura police station limits on Friday. The police said that around noon passers-by found the body at Ananthaswamy’s land near the Muneshwara temple and informed the police.

The assailants had strangled the man and stabbed him on the forehead. A five rupee coin and a lemon were found in the pocket of the victim, who was wearing khaki trousers and a shirt, the police said.

Chain snatched

A youth snatched a gold chain worth Rs. 20,000 from a housewife in Bharathinagar police station limits on Thursday night.

The police said that around 7 p.m., a youth aged around 20 came from behind and snatched the chain from Saroja (45) while she was walking towards her house on Narayana Pillai Street.

Arrested

The Madivala police on Thursday arrested three of the four youths who had allegedly robbed a software engineer, Ram Kumar, on October 16 on the pretext of giving him a lift in their car.

The police have recovered from them a gold ring and a mobile phone and also seized the car.

The arrested were identified as Sudarshan (20), Umashankar Reddy (21) and Mohan Reddy (20), all residents of Doddategur on Hosur Road. Sudarashan is a cab driver of a call centre, the police said.
