Sadbhavana award for NIMS director

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: Speakers at the Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana Yatra flag-off at the historic Charminar here on Friday appreciated the communal amity and the grit displayed by Hyderabadis in keeping their cool even during the recent twin blasts that claimed 40 lives.

Among those present at the inaugural of the rally were in-charge PCC president G.S. Rao, MP V. Hanumantha Rao and MLAs P. Janardhan Reddy and M. Sashidhar Reddy.

The speakers spoke of how Hyderabad was an example of communal amity in times of strife.

They urged people from different communities to continue to display such unity and oppose divisive elements whose mandate it was to shatter peace.

Dr. D. Prasada Rao, director, Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, received the Rajiv Sadbhavana Award on the occasion.

It may be recalled that the Sadbhavana yatra is held every year in memory of the former Prime Minister who took out the first such rally from the Charminar to Secunderabad on this day in 1990.
