GREATER NOIDA: A phenomenal six-birdie streak on the back nine saw Singapore’s Lam Chih Bing fire a six-under 66 for a four-stroke lead over first-round leader Shamim Khan at the halfway stage of the Rs. 80 lakh BILT Open golf tournament at the Jaypee Greens golf course here on Friday. Level par at the turn, Lam Chih Bing fired birdies from the 11th to the 16th holes. On the 13th hole, he sank an 18-footer and followed it up with 12-foot putts on the 14th and 16th holes. “I struggled on the front nine, especially with my putting, but started holding them on the back nine,” said Lam Chi Bing, runner-up to Jyoti Randhawa last year. It was a double-bogey by Shamim on the 18th hole that doubled Lam Chih Bing lead to four strokes. Shamim could only manage a par round to be at 138. Last year’s Tour leader Ashok Kumar shared the third spot following a 68. The scores: Lam Chih Bing (Sin) (68, 66) 134; Shamim Khan (66, 72) 138; Ashok Kumar (71, 68), Gaganjeet Bhullar (70, 69), Arjun Singh (69, 70), Gaurav Pratap Singh (67, 72) 139; Himmat Singh Rai (74, 66), Mukesh Kumar (72, 68), Digvijay Singh (69, 71) 140; Amandeep Malik (72, 69), Matloob Ahmat Rana (72, 69), Richard Backwell (72, 69), Anirban Lahiri (70, 71) and S. S. P. Chowrasia (69, 72) 141; Vijay Kumar (74, 68), Amandeep Johl (74, 68), Harender Gupta (73, 69), Feroz Ali (70, 72), Craig McLean (70, 72) and Mandeo Singh Pathania (69, 73) 142.
