OMALUR: Residents of Sarakka Pillaiyur village staged a demonstration in front of a fair price shop here on Friday.
The agitators said they were protesting against the alleged irregularities that they had reportedly noticed regarding the distribution of ration rice to cardholders.
The residents who staged the demonstration claimed that the officials were not distributing 15 kg of rice to a family card against 20 kg specified by the Government.
Taluk supply officials and revenue officials who arrived at the spot on hearing of the demonstration, pacified the agitators and persuaded them to disperse peacefully.
