GULBARGA: An idol of Lord Buddha in black stone was consecrated by the Buddhist monks at the Dhyan Mandir of Buddha Vihar on the outskirts of Gulbarga on Sunday. The idol sculpted by award winning sculptor Ashok Gudikar free of cost was consecrated amid recital of the holy scriptures in Pali and Sanskrit languages in the presence of the large number of devotees. The Buddha Vihar is being constructed at a cost of Rs. 5 crore collected from different philanthropists and devotees. The construction which was taken up in 2002, is likely to be completed by May 2008. The bronze idol of Lord Buddha, which has been specially shipped from Thailand, would be installed at the main vihar.
