Quality of higher education disappointing: Union Minister
HYDERABAD: Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development D. Purandeswari has called for putting in place a regulatory framework for private universities so as to prevent ‘commercialisation of education, racketeering and exploitation’.
Delivering the keynote address at the social responsibility conclave on “A perspective on the scenario of education in India” at the Indian School of Business here on Saturday, she said it was important that an effective regulatory framework be developed.The Minister expressed disappointment over the quality of college and university education in the country, ‘which has not kept pace with its quantitative growth. Mere access to higher education, the Minister stated, was by itself was enough; making quality education accessible was as important as the access to higher education.
