This Day That Age
Inaugurating the fourth Sangeeth Sammelan, organised by All India Radio in New Delhi on October 20, the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, emphasised the important role of music in the country’s cultural life. The President said that by trying to rescue music from the neglect to which times had somehow relegated it, All India Radio had rendered a great national service. The part which All India Radio had played and was playing in taking indigenous music to the common people interested in its various forms had indeed been notable.
