Rs.47 crore distributed to farmers under package: Sudhakaran

PALAKKAD: Minister for Cooperation G. Sudhakaran said on Sunday that an amount of Rs.47 crore was distributed to 87,465 farmers of the district under the Vidharbha package for the farm sector.

Inaugurating the Murikkavu branch of the Palakkad District Cooperative Bank at West Yakkara near here, the Minister said that 34 cooperative banks were given an interest subsidy of 2 per cent for providing agriculture loan to farmers from their own funds.

He said that the Cooperative Congress being held in Kochi from October 26 to 28 will discuss the proposed amendments that is to be brought to the Co-operative Act and Rules in the State.

The medical claim and insurance card for the employees of the Bank was distributed at the function by District Co-operative Joint Registrar P.V. Govindan Unni.
