Telangana leaders seek revamp of regional panel or a separate PCC for the region HYDERABAD: Three days ahead of the maiden visit of AICC general secretary Veerappa Moily to the State, leaders from Telangana region have begun demanding more teeth to the Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC). Or else, they want a separate PCC for the region. This apart, approach to tackle the sensitive issue of separate Telangana was discussed at a meeting between former PCC presidents K. Keshava Rao, P. Narsa Reddy, Palvai Goverdhan Reddy, K. R. Amos, and Kamalakar Rao, MLCs. The leaders felt that a total revamp of the TRCCC was the only answer. While the TRS and the BJP had gone all out to raise their voice on separate statehood, the Congress was unable to counter their campaign for lack of a proper mechanism, the leaders observed. The re-election of TRS president K. Chandrasekhara Rao in the Karimnagar by-election only proved that the sentiment is strong, they felt. Mr. Amos said on Sunday that the demand for a separate PCC for Telangana was to deal with organisational matters pertaining to the region. “Our demand is not to oppose the APCC,” he said and added that there was a need to strengthen the party in Telangana. He said the high command should take note of the September 8 resolution passed at the TRCCC meeting demanding a separate State without linking it to the second States Reorganisation Commission. The TRCCC leaders would go to New Delhi after November 10 to discuss the issue with high command. Though Mr. Moily would not be meeting separately with the Telangana leaders, individual representations were likely to be made to the CWC member, he added.
