CHENNAI: India should not be seen as supporting Benazir Bhutto, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, in her campaign against President Musharraf until she “atones for her past sins of the religious cleansing in Kashmir and support to Taliban,” Janata Party president, Subramanian Swamy said on Sunday. While the terrorist attempt to kill her should be condemned by all, it should also be remembered that it was the ISI that gave the initial encouragement to the Taliban when Ms. Bhutto was Prime Minister, Mr. Swamy said in a press release. Call for AzadiThe insurgency in the Kashmir valley was inspired by Ms. Bhutto’s call for Azadi (freedom from India) to the Kashmiri Muslims, Mr. Swamy added.
