NEW DELHI: Samuel struck in the dying minutes to lift Amity United to a 2-1 win over ONGC in the Durand Cup football qualifying round match here on Sunday. In an ill-tempered match where the referee pulled out seven yellow cards, Amity survived for another day through Samuel’s strike at the death. Amity United will await the winner of Air Force XI and Simla Youngs for the final qualifying round match. Praveen put Amity ahead in the 32nd minute for the half time lead. Jatin Singh Bisht found the equaliser for ONGC in the 54th minute. Samuel saved the day for Amity just when it seemed that the match would go into the extra-time. On Saturday, City Football Club rallied from a goal down to beat Assam Regiment 2-1 and moved into the final qualifying round. Assam Regiment’s Bula scored the opening goal in the 20th minute. Adhing equalised two minutes before the half time as City Club made good moves to rattle the opposition. Rajiv Saini struck the winner in the 85th minute. — Principal Correspondent
