VIZIANAGARAM: The district administration made arrangements for the famous annual Sirimanotsavam of Sri Pydimamba, the village goddess, on Tuesday. As ‘Tholellu’ is being celeberated on Monday hundreds of devotees have already arrived and the town wears a festive look with jampacked main roads, colourful lights and many a number of attractive business hoardings. The municipality has earmarked about Rs. 30,000 for illuminating main traffic junctions such as Clock Tower, Balaji Junction, Mayuri Junction etc. While the 55-feet-tall tree which was carted to the house of former chief priest B. Bairagi Naidu at Hukumpet on Saturday last is being shaped into ‘Sirimaanu’ by a team of carpenters, the municipality has arranged ‘chalivendrams’ and temporary toilets at 11 points. Some 90 sanitary workers were being drafted exclusively for keeping the area around the temple at three lamps junction clean. An assistance and information centre for devotees was opened near the temple. The Endowments Department erected barricades at the temple for the visiting devotees. The State Road Transport Corporation has made arrangements to meet the jatara rush. It would be operating about 100 special services between Vizianagaram and other major towns in the neighbouring districts from October 22 to 24.
