SpaRKLING: It’s a wide choice at the ‘Jewels of India’ show in Bangalore. BANGALORE: Scouting for something different to deck yourself up this Diwali? Head to “Jewels of India,” a jewellery retail exhibition that got under way here on Saturday. Film actor Bhagyashree, Priyanka Upendra and P.V. Mahesh, president of the Jewellers Association, jointly launched the show. The exhibition, which will be on at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium till October 23, is open for all between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. On display for sale are ornaments made of gold, diamond, platinum, pieces stuuded with gems and fine jewellery. Over a hundred exhibitors are participating in the event. Something for allThe festival organisers’ confidence could be gauged when they declare: “We are sure that no woman will go empty-handed from the exhibition.” Here’s perhaps why they are so confident: on show are antique gold jewellery collections; Burmese rubies; Thewa jewellery from Rajasthan, Nizam-style ornaments from Hyderabad and also designer jewellery in gold and diamond. The exhibition also saw the launch of branded jewellery and carat plus diamond jewellery. Hong Kong jewellers are participating in the show for the first time.
