THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Cooperative Union (SCU) is organising a rally from Parassala to Ernakulam to herald the Sixth Cooperative Congress to be held in Kochi from October 26 to 28. Programme committee convener B.N.Saijuraj and general manager of the Congress R.Madhusoodanan Nair told a press conference here on Sunday that Minister for Cooperation G. Sudhakaran would inaugurate the rally carrying the flag for the congress. Pannian Ravindran, MP, president of the Kerala State Cooperative Bank Kadakampally Surendran, district panchayat president Anavoor Nagappan and Cooperative Societies Registrar Rani George are scheduled to participate in the meeting at Parassala. SCU managing committee member C.R. Jayaprakash will lead the rally, which will have stopovers at Kayankulam, Kottayam, Cheruthoni and Neriyamangalam before concluding at Edapally on October 25. A second rally from Kasaragod would also end at the same venue. 2,500 delegatesMr. Saijuraj said 2,500 delegates representing cooperative institutions across the State were expected to participate in the three-day Congress. Union Minister for Agriculture and Civil Supplies Sharad Pawar will inaugurate the event. Seminars, group discussions, friendship meets and cultural programmes have been organised as part of the event. The highlight of this year’s congress is the participation of a delegate from England, the birthplace of the cooperative movement.
