Sir, — I hereby suggest that the movement of night buses has to be controlled from both Mangalore and Bangalore ends. Journey to Bangalore by road has become horrifying for all. Now that the festival season has started, it is better to reschedule the bus timings, especially the night buses in such a way that the arrival of buses that depart from Bangalore after 9 p.m. at Mudigere should be controlled. Thereby, the vehicles including buses leaving Mangalore, would have passed the Charmadi Ghat section. For instance, buses from Mangalore should leave by 10 p.m. and reach Mudire/Kottigehara by 2.30 a.m. Thus the journey on the ghat stretch would be one way. H. Ramakrishna Mangalore Responsibility of pet dog ownersSir, — People who come for an early morning walk along with their pet dogs do not follow safety measures by chaining them. This creates problems to other passers by. Some of them get apprehensive about the danger from unchained dogs. Dog owners have got every right to bring their pets along with them. But they should ensure safety of other users of road. The dog owners may claim that their pets would not harm others. They should follow the minimum safety measures by chaining their pets instead of treating them specially and letting them free on public roads. V.S. Ganeshan Bangalore BSNL servicesSir, — Little care has been taken to ensure enhancement in the quality of service provided by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL). There has been no substantial reduction in the prices of rentals, while the number of free calls should have been increased to 250, from 100, to retain its customer base. If the company really wishes to set right its finances, it should either go in for corporate amalgamation, or privatisation. It could alternatively withdraw benefits to our MPs and its staff, such as multiple connections. Farooq Ahmed Channarayapatna Readers can also email letters to letters.mangalore@ thehindu.co.in
