Delhi’s Deputy Mayor falls to death

New Delhi: Delhi’s Deputy Mayor S.S. Bajwa died here on Sunday morning of head injuries after falling from the terrace of his house following an attack by monkeys.

The 52-year-old Corporator from Anand Vihar ward was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of Apollo hospital on Saturday with multiple injuries.

His condition deteriorated later leading to his death, BJP’s Delhi President Harsh Vardhan told PTI.

Elected for the first time

Mr. Bajwa, a businessman and Delhi BJP’s vice-president, was walking on the terrace of his house when the monkeys attacked him.

Mr. Bajwa was elected to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for the first time in April this year.

He is survived by wife and a son.

This is not the first case of monkey attack on the city’s denizens.

The High Court has pulled up the Municipal Corporation of Delhi several times in the past to curb the monkey menace in the capital. — PTI
