Ready for dialogue on POSCO project: Patnaik
Special Correspondent
BHUBANESWAR: The Orissa government is ready for a dialogue with those opposing the setting up of the steel project of the POSCO in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has said. Mr. Patnaik told presspersons here that he was ready for a dialogue with anyone opposing the project.
The Chief Minister expressed his willingness to talk to the anti-POSCO activists after POSCO Chief Executive Officer Ku-Taek Lee said in New Delhi on Friday that the company would perform groundbreaking ceremony for the project on April 1 next.
“We are fully committed to the project in Jagatsinghpur and the project will happen with the support of the people,” company spokesman Shashank Pattnaik said here on Sunday. However, the dialogue between the Chief Minister and those opposing the project might not be possible as president of the POSCO Pratirodh Sangram Samiti Abhay Sahu rejected Mr. Patnaik’s offer for talks.
