India beats Iran

NEW DELHI: India scored a comfortable 3-1 win over Iran in the first round women’s match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup at the Devi Lal Sports Complex in Gurgaon on Saturday.

The Iranian girls found support from some enthusiastic compatriots in the stands but the contest on the turf was dominated by India.

The Iranian players, in keeping with their law, covered their body from head to toe and did have some moments to cheer in their first ever participation in the tournament.

Bembem Devi scored two goals for the host team and Bala Devi one while Fereshteh Karimi netted one for the Iranians.
