NEW DELHI: Three businessmen have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police on charges of illegally storing crackers. The police claim to have seized 3,469 kg of crackers during the operations.
The first raid was conducted at a Kabir Nagar shop from where 477 kg of crackers. The shopkeeper, Inderveer Jain (42), was arrested. In another raid at Budh Vihar, the police arrested a grocery shop owner, Sanjay (30), after 1,485 kg of crackers were seized from his premises.
Hari Gupta (32) was arrested by a special team of the Crime Branch following the recovery of 1,507 kg crackers illegally stored in his shop.
The three accused have been booked under Section 286 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 9B of the Explosive Substances Act.
