PANAJI: The Bombay High Court at Goa comprising Justice R.M.S Khandeparkar and Justice R.S. Mohite on Monday admitted a public interest litigation(PIL) filed by social activist Aires Rodrigues challenging the appointments of two ruling coalition MLAs as parliamentary secretaries and conferring of Cabinet status on three political appointees holding positions in State-owned bodies. The petition challenged the decision of the Digambar Kamat Government to appoint Nilkanth Harlankar and Francisco Silveira as parliamentary secretaries and conferring Cabinet status on Agnelo Fernandes, chairman of State-owned corporation EDC; Wilfred De Souza, Deputy chairman of Goa Planning Board; and Eduardo Faleiro, Commissioner of NRI Affairs. In view of the order passed on by the Supreme Court that the ends of justice would be met if the matter was heard and decided by the Bombay High Court in Goa, the High Court on Monday directed that the petition be heard for final disposal on November 26.
