Homage to ‘heroes’

The Chief Minister is also expected to pay homage to the uprising’s heroes at Valiya Chudukad the same day. A procession under the leadership of the Punnapra North and South ward committees will reach the martyrs’ column here.

A torch rally will also be part of Tuesday’s programmes. The weeklong celebrations, which are being organised by local and ward committees under the supervision of the district committee, will culminate in a meeting at Valiya Chudukad on October 27. This meeting will be attended by Mr. Achuthanandan, CPI(M) State Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan, Ministers G. Sudhakaran, M.A. Baby and T.M. Thomas Isaac and Mr. Chandranandan among others.

The Communist Party of India (CPI) and the CPI(M) are jointly organising the celebrations.
