Parallel colleges association protest

KOLLAM: The district unit of the Kerala State Parallel Colleges Association has registered a protest against the move by local bodies to classify parallel colleges as commercial organisations. At a press conference here on Monday, the association president R. Venugopala Pillai said the aim of such a move was to slap heavy taxes on parallel colleges.

In protest against the attitude of the authorities, parallel colleges in the district will remain closed on Tuesday. Under the banner of the association, its members will march to the Kollam Corporation Office and stage a dharna in front of it.
