Government justifies suspension

Kochi: The State government on Monday told the Central Administrative Tribunal that V. Gopinath, Chief Conservator of Forests (Vigilance), was suspended because he failed to inform the government about the Merchiston Estate land deals in Ponmudi. In an affidavit, the government said the Chief Conservator of Forests (Vigilance) was duty-bound to apprise it of all information on land dealings. — Special Correspondent
