KOCHI: With no solution in sight for the goods carrier stir in the State, operators of lorries and mini-lorries will hold separate conclaves on Monday night to discuss their future course of action. Caught in the crossfire between the government and the vehicle operators, the people, especially those who live in remote places, have begun to feel the heat of the strike. The price of essential commodities has begun to rise and vegetables have become scarce in some areas. Also, the shortage of fuel looms large over the State. In Kochi, the number of goods carriers on the road is waning by the day. However, container lorries are not participating in the strike. Kerala State Tempo and Mini-Lorry Operators’ Association general secretary K.K. Ibrahim Kutty said that office-bearers of his organisation would meet in Kochi to chalk out the future course of action. Lorry operators said the government was yet to open counters to collect the welfare fund, which owners were willing to pay at old rates.
