BANGALORE: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council H.K. Patil has written to Council Chairman B.K. Chandrashekhar asking him to clarify whether he (Patil) should continue in his post in the wake of the enforcement of the President’s Rule in the State. Mr. Patil has sought to know from the Chairman about the details of constitutional provisions related to the post of the Leader of the Opposition during the President’s Rule. He has appealed to the Chairman to clarify whether he should continue to hold his post when there was no government at all. Prof. Chandrashekhar told The Hindu that he would discuss the issue with the senior officials concerned either on Tuesday or Wednesday. “If need be, I will take the views of senior lawyers,” Prof. Chandrashekhar said. Principal Secretary to the Legislature Secretariat, Council Secretary and other senior officials are expected to take part in the meeting being convened by Prof. Chandrashekhar to discuss the issue.
