‘President’s Rule will hit development works’ ‘November to March is when all works gather momentum’ BANGALORE: Independent MLA K. Jayaprakash Hegde and Republican Party of India MLA S. Rajendran on Monday appealed to the top leaders of the Janata Dal (Secular) and the Congress to shun their egos and avoid mid-term polls by joining hands again to form a new government. The two legislators, at a press conference, offered to mediate between the two parties in the interest of the State to form a new government. Mr. Hegde said the President’s rule would not be as effective as the rule under a democratically elected government. Implementation of development schemes would be affected during the President’s rule, he said and expressed concern that it was during the season of November to March that the implementation of the development works would gain momentum as there would be relief from rain during these months. Mr. Hegde said he and Mr. Rajendran were planning to hold a meeting of like-minded legislators in the State in about a week to elicit their views on forming a new government. Mr. Rajendran even gave a call to MLAs cutting across party affiliations to break their party barrier and support them in forming a government if they were courageous and willing to avoid elections. “Do not bother about provisions of the Anti-Defection Law. “Because the episode of a petition seeking disqualification of the former chief minister H. D. Kumaraswamy and others for violating the party’s direction has shown that it will take a long time to decide on anti-defection issue,” Mr. Rajendran said.
