THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Members of the Audit and Accounts Association took out a demonstration on the Account-General’s Office premises on Monday in protest against the suspension of an employee, S. Anil, and installation of surveillance cameras in the office. Association convener K.N. Vijayakumar, who addressed the employees, accused the Accountant-General of trying to impose a reign of terror in the office. By deputing 40 employees from various sections for completing the pension revision work, the routine functions in those sections had come to a standstill. It would also delay the pension revision process, he said. After forming a special cell for the work in March last, only 15,000 applications had been processed so far. The Accountant-General’s claims that 500 to 600 applications were being processed a day were baseless. The statement that the applications can be cleared before December end was meant to mislead the pensioners and the State government, Mr. Vijayakumar said.
